Commander Jim Feldkamp, USN Ret., has a career history defined by diverse and valuable contributions to national security. Starting as a US Naval Flight Officer, he flew as a Counter-Measures Officer (ECMO) and Navigator for the EA-6B, the U.S. Navy’s carrier-based electronic attack aircraft. His service was tested during Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm in 1991, where he executed operations from the deck of the USS Midway.

Beyond his naval career, his service extended to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) in Norfolk, Virginia, where he joined the U.S. Naval Reserves and became a Special Agent. There, he was instrumental in founding the Joint Counter Terrorism Task Force, working on the frontlines of counter-terrorism efforts. His skills as a pilot were also used in this role, where he was one of three pilots in the Norfolk office conducting aerial physical surveillance of suspects involved in criminal and terrorist cases.

In 2004, his dedication to public service led him into the political arena as the Republican nominee for Oregon’s District 4 Congressional seat, a position he would run for again in 2006. In 2007, he returned to the Navy reserve duty, where he played a crucial role in establishing the precursor office of the National Maritime Intelligence-Integration Office (NMIO). As part of this effort, he coordinated the sharing of non-classified information among U.S. federal agencies, foreign governments, and the maritime shipping industry to bolster marine security and awareness.

His wealth of experience has also made him an invaluable academic contributor. He currently serves as a Subject Matter Expert at Georgetown University, developing a course on “Terrorism and Unconventional Threats.” Before this role, he was an adjunct professor at George Mason University and George Washington University, where he imparted his knowledge of domestic and international terrorism to undergraduate students.

In addition to his teaching roles, he is an accomplished academic author and editor. His university textbook, published through Cognella Academic Publishing, comprehensively analyzes the "Theory and Politics of Terrorism," contributing to a deeper understanding of the subject.

Commander Jim Feldkamp has served his country with distinction throughout his multifaceted career, consistently working to safeguard national security and promote a deeper understanding of terrorism. His impressive contributions make him a respected figure in counter-terrorism and maritime security
